Junior hockey boys of The King’s school West Rand recently won the D12 Big School’s Hockey League for the first time ever.

Sports administrator Andre Berrange said this is the first time in the history of the school the boys remained unbeaten throughout the entire season.

Joel van Rooyen, Kyle Brown, Matthew Chidikwindi, Justin Vice, Jason Phillips, Matthew Winckworth, Luca Rugani, Keegan Pennells, Matthew McKay and Sebastian Thomas were proud to take the cup after a magnificent season.

“The boys had an amazing season and I am proud to be their coach,”said Berrange.

The boys played against schools such as Laerskool Roodekrans, which they beat 8–0 and Maragon Private Schools which they beat 2–1.

By then the boys were the winners of the Afrikaans League and had to play the winner of the English League to determine the overall winner.

“We proudly beat Weltevreden Park Primary School 6–1 and took the cup home,” said Berrange
