Pupils of Maragon’s Pre-School donate books

RUIMSIG – Maragon's Pre-School promoted National Literacy Awareness Week by donating books to charity.

Maragon Private Schools Pre-School promoted National Literacy Awareness Week by donating books to Mugg and Tree on 16 September, at Maragon Pre-School for less-fortunate children.

Spokesperson Belinda Espag Advtech said the teachers organised various events throughout the week from 14 to 18 September, during which pupils learned sounds, rhyming and they also dressed up as their favourite characters.

Leago Mothibi and Loane Mothibinyane read books they purchased to donate to charity.

Espag said they especially emphasised to the children the importance of giving to the less-fortunate.

“The books that the children could choose from were on display. They had to purchase one book for themselves and donate one to charity. Our intention was to teach them to give to those who have less than them,” said Espag.

Espag pointed out that books are important educational tools that help to expand children’s vocabulary and keep their imaginations alive.
