Day of Hajj for Muslims

Today people of the Islamic faith celebrate the Day of Hajj.

Today Muslims all over the world convene in Mecca, Saudi Arabia to perform the annual hajj pilgrimage.

This takes place over a period of five days where Muslims pray to Allah, their God.

An online article states The Hajj is associated with the life of Islamic prophet Muhammad from the 7th century, but the ritual of pilgrimage to Mecca is considered by Muslims to stretch back thousands of years to the time of Abraham (Ibrahim).

Every person of the Islamic faith is required to visit Mecca which is known as the holiest city in Saudi Arabia, at least once in their lifetime but only if they are physically and financially stable.

During this period men are expected to wear white seamless clothes and women are not allowed to cover their face.

Clipping nails, shaving and sexual relations are also forbidden.

As the Day of Hajj is celebrated, we would like to wish our Muslim readers well as they celebrate Day of Hajj.
