Little Citizen’s crowning beauties

The Little Citizen Academy held their first beauty pageant ever.

The Little Citizen Academy crowned their students as they held their first beauty pageant on Saturday (12th of September) at their annual Spring Day.

Abigail (AJ) van Loggerenberg, 3, and Adam Kitchin, 3, stole the hearts of the crowd when they were crowned Mr and Missy Little Citizen Academy.

“I have instilled in Abigail that it is not about winning the title but about learning to be responsible,” says her mother Tammy van Loggerenberg.

Tammy says the pageant teaches them to be responsible as well as caring for the community and being confident in their own skin.

The winners duties will include giving back to the community by getting involved in donation projects.

Melissa Nieuwoudt, principal of the pre-school said because she used to be involved in beauty pageants, she thought it would be fun for the children to participate in.

“When we informed the parents, they loved the idea,” Melissa said.

The very first project they will be doing is the Christmas charity drive for the Abraham Kriel Orphanage in Nylstroom. They will visit the children at the orphanage and meet their wish list for Christmas.
