Country music is one of the most popular types of music in the world and this special type of music originated in the USA.

As National Country Music Day is celebrated, we give you a low-down on famous country musicians you may not have known.

• Elvis Presley used to be a country singer and he was the top selling artist in the entire history of country music.

• Country singer Reba McEntire was referred to as the “Queen of Country Music” after selling over 50 million copies of her records in the United States and overseas.

• After Patsy Cline who was an American country singer died in a plane crash, she became the first female solo artist to be voted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. She is famous for writing songs like “Crazy” and “Wakin’ after midnight.”
