Make a child’s wish come true this Christmas

Make a pledge and donate a santa shoebox to a child in need.

No matter how you choose to spend your Christmas this year, donating to an underprivileged child might make you enjoy Christmas more meaningful.

Every year there is a plea to donate to the Santa Shoebox Project and this year, there are many children in the area who have never experienced what a real Christmas is like.

For the past nine years, 456 004 gifts have been distributed to children in orphanages, children’s homes and care centres in the country. Santa boxes have even been distributed to children as far as Namibia.

“So far, there have been 1700 pledges and the pledging will stop when a total of 5000 boxes has been reached,” said Lisette Muller, sub-coordinator for the Santa Shoe Box in West Rand/ Randburg.

When you pledge for a child, only their name, surname and age will be known to you. You will not know the facility they are currently at due to safety reasons.

The box you pledge to a child you select must include stationary, toothpaste, a toothbrush, an item of clothing, a toy, face cloth, bar of soap and sweets.

Alternatively you can donate R350 for a santa box.

Drop your Santa boxes off at Rhema bible Church North, Hans Schoeman street, Bromhof, Randburg or Stor-Age in Constantia Kloof.

Stor-Age will also provide those with shoe boxes, should you not have any.

The project does however also depend on volunteers to help drop-off the boxes and check them. If you would like to become a volunteer, call Lisette on 082 4111 666 Julia Hogarth on 083 651 4162.
