Is Google making you dumb?

According to researchers, the Internet blurs the line between what you know and what you think you know.

The Internet has consumed the lives of many and many may not realise how dependent they are on Google especially if their job requires them to be.

According to an online article, researchers have warned Google has created a generation of people who aren’t as intelligent as they think they are.

Today is National Google.com Day and although it has not been declared official, we sum up quotes and phrases adapted from various online articles, why Google makes you think you are smarter than you are.

• When people are on their own and there is no way they can use the Internet, they may realise how little they know about a subject and how they are dying to Google it.

• An online article states Internet searches give people the illusion of personal knowledge even when they haven’t gained any.

• “The Internet is always available and gives instant answers, making people less aware of just how reliant they are on it,” is a statement made by author Matthew Fisher from an International University.

• The same author said “Unlike looking something up in a book or calling up a friend for the answer to a question, searching the Internet is nearly effortless.

Do you agree with the statements above and do you think you are not dependent on Google?
