A prayer for the disabled

"Unlock your potential and share your gift with the world."

A story of hope and a persistent spirit unfolded at Action for Blind And Disabled Children yesterday.

Nontobeko Sibisi, owner of Bhubeskazi Investment Holdings, shared how she went from hating herself to finding hope in God in her motivational speech as she addressed the students at the organisation.

She decided to visit the students at Action because of how inspiring they are and to share her story of how a woman who had nothing, pursued her dreams.

“I was raped when I was younger by my uncle so many times that I lost count. Soon afterwards I got to a point where, just when I was about to take my life, I saw the light God showed me,” she said.

As she told her story, students gasped as they heard the struggles she went through.

Nontobeko then focused on how she overcame her fears and insecurities.

She told the students of Action to repeat, “I am great, capable and dynamic” after her continuously.

“It is not about how you look but how you tell yourself you look,” she said and the students could be heard agreeing to her statements.

“Your mind can take you anywhere you want to go. Don’t stop yourself from dreaming,” said Nontobeko.

She then added how a dream can become a reality.

“At a stage, Action was only a dream and someone decided to work hard and make it what it is today. You can do that too,” she said.

Christina Molebatsi, a student at Action said Nontobeko’s speech was uplifting and inspiring and made her think about life.

“I really enjoyed her speech,” said a smiling Christina.
