One suspect was shot dead and four are still at large, after they robbed a British American Tobacco (Bat) van.
At about 8am the five suspects stopped the Bat van on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Albertina Sisulu Road in Maraisburg and robbed it at gunpoint. They fled in a minibus. Roodepoort Police members gave chase and followed the minibus all the way to Matholliesville. The driver of the minibus lost control and crashed into a shack. Four suspects fled the scene but one of the robbers was shot dead.
All the cigarettes was recovered.
