Roodies players make the team

Hoërskool Roodepoort rugby players proud to be part of the team

Johan Venter and Dillon Teixeira made their school proud when they were chosen to be part of the Roodepoort Rugby Club Series B team.

Venter, an outside centre and Teixeira, an inside centre from Hoërskool Roodepoort participated in the competition last month where they lead their team to the finals of Section C.

They marginally lost against Hoërskool Fochville 10-16. An A, B and U/15 team were chosen from the tournament that took part in the whole of August.

The series had more than 30 schools from across Gauteng participating.

Selectors such as former Transvaal captain Toy Dannhauser and Monty Beyneveldt were watching the games intensively to choose the best teams that will compete against a team from KwaZulu-Natal.

Venter said he is happy to be recognized as a player good enough to be part of the team.

“I didn’t know there will be a team chosen. So when I found out, I was ecstatic,” said Venter.

Teixeira said he was also shocked to find out he was chosen to be part of the team.

“I was just focusing on the final and was not aware. It feels good to know that my hard work has paid off and that someone is watching us playing well,” he said.
