WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES: Mother and son collide with a taxi

HONEYDEW - Taxi and SUV collide leaving nine injured.

A mini-bus taxi collided with a Toyota Fortuner at the intersection of Beyers Naude Drive and Blueberry Road in Honeydew on 5 September at around 6pm.

According to an eye witness named Nicolas ( a passenger in the mini-bus taxi), the taxi was trying to cross the intersection coming from Beyers Naude Drive.

He said, “The lady driving the Fortuner went through the red robot and the hit the taxi, after that we just spun and spun.”

JMPD officials on scene said there were two occupants in the Fortuner (mother and son) and the taxi had nine passengers including the driver.

Fire fighters confirmed that nine patients were transported to hospital, and could not confirm if this included the mother and son.

Other eye witnesses said they saw the hand of the taxi driver physically hanging off his arm.
