In a statement received from Clearwater Mall’s general manager Vicky Vlok stated, “SAPS Special Ops Unit in conjunction with Centre Security responded to an attempted armed robbery of an RTT vehicle this morning at Hyprop’s Clearwater Mall. ”
Six armed suspects attempted to rob the RTT vehicle in the covered parking-lot of the mall.
The statement confirmed that shots were fired and two suspects were fatally injured, two suspects injured and the remaining two were apprehended.
Police are currently on scene and a press briefing is being held.
Vlok said, “No members of the public or stakeholders of the mall were injured during the incident. The Centre is currently operating as normal.”
