Petrol price will drop again

'The petrol price will increase soon,' said Economist Dawie Roodt.

Motorists can look forward to paying a few pennies less on fuel as petrol prices will drop next month.

The Automobile Association (AA) in a press statement said, “Petrol is likely to drop by between 55 and 64 cents a litre, diesel by between 53 and 57 cents while illuminating paraffin may see a 60 cents drop.”

Economist Dawie Roodt says the decrease in petrol stems from the International oil price that has been coming down quite sharply.

“The weaker Rand is adding to the petrol price. If it was not for the Rand, then the fall in the petrol price would have been closer to 70 cents a litre,” said Roodt.

Roodt added he expects the Rand to weaken further which will mean motorists will see an increase in the petrol price soon although it will not be a huge increase.
