Cell phone leads to stolen vehicle

Quick thinking and action praised.

For once having forgotten a cell phone in a stolen vehicle turned out to be a good thing.

This past Saturday community members reported the theft of a vehicle outside Roodepoort Rugby Club to Florida Police.

Whilst reporting the matter they recalled that there was a cell phone in the vehicle and upon accessing the cell phone’s tracking system the cell phone was found to be stationery in the Soweto area.

A Florida SAPS Crime Prevention vehicle was dispatched and the vehicle recovered.

The community wants to thank Captain Makafola for giving the info on the vehicle through so quickly as well as Sergeant Magetse and Constable Gabe for recovering the vehicle.

Unfortunately the suspects had abandoned the vehicle and were not apprehended.
