Bad news for Oscar

Oscar Pistorius will not be released from prison tomorrow.

Oscar Pistorius, former Constantia Kloof Primary School pupil will have to wait a while before moving into his uncle’s lavish mansion as he will not be released from prison tomorrow.

Part of the decision was because of a petition issued to the government by the Progressive Women’s Movement of South Africa (PWMSA) to block Pistorius’ release early this week.

According to an online article, PWMSA wrote a letter to Correctional Services Minister Michael Masutha.

The letter stated that a 10-month length of Pistorius’ jail time is an insult to women.

Reeva Steenkamp’s parents, Barry and June have also been reported objecting to Pistorius’ release.

Pistorius was found guilty of culpable homicide and was given a sentence of five years. He has been serving 10 months to date at the Kgosi Mampuru II prison in Pretoria.

Mthunzi Mhaga, spokesperson for the Justice Department, in a press statement said the date would have to be reviewed again because Pistorius was approved to be moved to house arrest too soon.
