GALLERY: Dogs have their day

WILGEHEUWEL – Gicarl Baby and Toddler Centre collect dog food for Fora.

The Gicarl Baby and Toddler Centre in Wilgeheuwel showed their concern for animals on 14 August when they collected tins and packets of dog food for Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora).

The day was fun-filled as all of the children dressed up as pirates to mark the occasion. “We’re very happy with the amount of food we collected,” said Annelize Slabbert, owner of the centre.

Slabbert, along with Natashja Botha, organised the event to promote a sense of community at the centre. “We collected over 40 bags of dog food,” Botha explained. This is in addition to the large pile of tinned food.

Botha said that all of the children’s parents had been helpful and eager to participate with the collection of food and with dressing their children to the theme of the day.

Fora arrived at midday to collect the sizable donation.
