Daphne turns 95 next week

She will be celebrating her milestone with family.

Daphne Bolton, a lover of books and cross-word puzzles will celebrate her 95th birthday next week Thursday (27 August).

She is a true definition of being happy adds years to ones life.

Daphne was unable to speak to the Record due to her hearing failing.

According to her daughter Moira Bolton, Daphne is surprised to have lived this long.

“I think it stems from the fact that her siblings died at a young age and she is the only one of four children. My mother lives a very healthy and active lifestyle,” Moira said.

Even though Daphne had a tough life growing up in an orphanage in Krugersdorp, she dreamt learning and mastering the piano. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, this was not possible.

Daphne has two daughters and no grandchildren. Moira said if there is one thing her mother would want before she leaves this earth, it would be to ensure both her daughters are financially secure.

Daphne’s answer to which famous person she would have dinner with, dead or alive, was actors from the 1930s and 1940s, Ronald Colman or Leslie Howard.
