Celebrating Callan Edwards’ life

A Callan Tyler Empowerment Centre will launch next month in remembrance of her.

The life of a 15-year-old teenager who died because of a liver problem will be celebrated at the Florida Lake on Saturday 5 September.

Callan Edwards was laid to rest last month after her body rejected a liver transplant.

Because she is described by the community as a vibrant young girl who cared about others, they will be launching a Callan Tyler Empowerment Centre next month in honour of her.

Lucinda Gill, coordinator of the event said the centre will include free music and dance lessons, counselling, agricultural training and a talk on donor and transplant education.

“Everyone involved will be volunteering for the day which is why everything will be free excluding the food stalls,” said Lucinda.

The day will start with an awareness walk around the lake at 9am and the unveiling of the centre will take place soon afterwards.

Registration for the walk is R100 for adults & R70 for kids which will include a t shirt and a cap.

Lucinda said if there are any companies who would like to sponsor or donate towards this initiative, they are more than welcome.

The centre will be situated on the corner of Albertina Sisulu and Fourth Avenue, Florida Lake.

Call Lucinda on 083-313-4622 or 011-028-5814 for additional information.
