Miss Teen Joburg finalist motivates disabled learners

"Be the light of the world," said Miah Kinleh.

Miss Teen Johannesburg Finalist, Miah Kinleh uttered words of love, wisdom and knowledge when she delivered a motivational speech on Friday.

Students at Action for Blind and Disabled Children listened attentively to her as she encouraged them.

“See yourself as the light of the world and do not let your disability make you feel less of a person,” said 17-year-old Miah continuously.

The compassionate teenager who describes herself as success-driven, showed enthusiasm and confidence during her speech.

Miah and her 12-year-old sister, Pely Kinleh founded a non-government organisation (NGO) called Reach Out Miah and Pely (ROMAP) which focuses on social youth development.

She said what makes it different from other NGO’s is that it meets the youth at the point of their need by offering them with advice to solve any of their problems.

Between her speech, she kept asking the students if they had any questions and some of them could not wait to raise their hands.

“How many of you have dreams and what are they?”

Three students said they want to be a billionaire, businessman and entrepreneur.

After listening to their goals, she encouraged them to make it a reality.

“Plan your dream and then take action!” Miah exclaimed which were followed by nodds and whispers of agreement.

Admission Inama, a student at Action said her speech was a great encouragement to him.

“She is such a brave young girl who is currently living her dream and to me, that is inspiring. I plan to start my own NGO someday so that I can also empower the youth,” Admission said.
