Helderkruin clinic’s renovations completed

Four weekends of hard work has finally paid off as the Church of Latter Day Saints wrapped up their renovations.

The Church of Jesus Christ – Latter Day Saints in Roodepoort wrapped up their final renovations at the Helderkruin Clinic on Saturday.

“This was another Mandela Day celebration for us as we celebrate this day throughout the year and not only on 18 July. It feels good for us when we are able to help the community,” said Bishop Robert Pienaar.

The friendly atmosphere and hard work provided by almost 40 volunteers on the day, allowed them to work well together to complete the renovations in time.

One of the volunteers, Kgomotso Mokgethi (16), said he is happy he was part of the project.

“I was encouraged to volunteer at the clinic after I read the article Helderkruin Clinic gets renovated in the Roodepoort Record, and I saw young children were also involved,” said Kgomotso.

The day ended off with a special thanks by the project manager, Bernard Brown and socialising as the church celebrated their accomplishment.

The church has vowed to adopt the clinic for the next five years to ensure it stays clean and looked after.
