Klara Göttert’s emotional funeral was held in the afternoon of 15 August at Aasvoëlkop Dutch Reformed Church in Northcliff.
Family, friends, relatives and school mates gathered at the church to bid a fond farewell to the 14-year-old who committed suicide at Northgate Shopping Centre on 11 August.
She was the youngest daughter in her family and is survived by her parents Liesl and Dieter and her two siblings Rebekka and Benno.
She fell to her death after her mother reported to the police that she was missing.
Her brother Benno thanked the mourners who were gathered at the church hall and the Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) in Parktown /Westcliff, where Klara was studying, for their condolences. “We were touched by the warm gestures from the school,” said Benno.
Klara’s elder sister Rebekka said, “We were touched by the love they share with Klara.”
