At about 4.30pm last night a large area surrounding the Florida Station had to be closed off in order for a Netcare 911 helicopter to land.
This came after a Metro Rail Guard confronted a suspected cable thief who then stabbed him in the head.
The Florida Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sector Two played an instrumental part in assisting the police and emergency services in securing the area for the airlift.
The suspect was not apprehended and was last seen in the Florida Lake area. He is tall, has dread locks and was wearing a white T-shirt and brown trousers.
