8 awesome facts about left-handed people

Being left-handed has many advantages.

Left-handed people are three times more likely to become alcoholics because people who use the right side of the brain has a lower tolerance to alcohol.

So if you are left-handed, and you drink alcohol, you might want to watch your regular intake.

International Lefthander’s Day was created for people who were born a ‘leftie.’

Here are a few reasons for you to be proud and not so proud of being left-handed:

1. If you are left-handed you share a unique quality with other famous celebrities. Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey and Celine Dion are left-handed.

2. Although left-handed people make up about 20 per cent of the population, most cooking supplies and other gadgets are catered for right-handed people.

3. It is easy to see whether babies are left-handed or not from a very young age. When a baby is placed on their stomach and they tilt their head to the left, they will be left-handed.

4. Serial killers such as Jack the Ripper and Osama Bin Laden were apparently left-handed.

5. In the past, left-handedness was seen as a mark of the devil, rebellion, and criminal activities.

6. Apparently they are more intelligent than right-handed people. A test was conducted between left and right-handed people and it was found that left-handed people had an Intelligence quotient (IQ) level of over 140.

7. Left-handed people are easily embarrassed and have found to be frequently in a bad mood.

8. A survey between different countries which includes over 25 000 people concluded that left handed people drink more frequently than right-handed people.
