HONEYDEW – Women police officers from the Honeydew cluster were treated to a day of fun on 7 August in celebration of women’s day.

The Honeydew Police cluster celebrated Women’s Day in fine style on 7 August at St Stithians College.

The cluster includes the Honeydew, Randburg, Douglasdale, Florida, Roodepoort and Diepsloot police stations. About 81 police women attended the event.

During the event, the cluster was entertained by a Marimba band from Randburg Clinic School, and motivated by Warrant Officer Ledia Lamola and motivational speaker Gordon Frank.

Sergeant Dipuo Maphanga from Randburg Police Station, who is also the chairperson of the cluster, said the event was one of a kind.

“I feel empowered after the Women’s Day celebration,” she said.

Maphanga said the two speakers that were available motivated them to be better role models and also encouraged them to be good examples to the youth.

“One speaker mentioned that as women we shouldn’t be put down by other people because we are women, but instead we should take charge of our lives and impact change in the community,” she said.
