Exclusive: Another violent incident school’s death knell?

Education Member of the Executive Committee (MEC) Panyaza Lesufi will in all likelihood tonight announce the permanent closure of Roodepoort Primary, a reliable source told the Record.

This comes after another violent incident at the school yesterday despite the MEC having issued a final warning to the community – Behave or the school will be closed down. A parent allegedly got into a fist fight with a Education official during a heated confrontation yesterday morning.

According to the source a meeting will be held tonight by the MEC with all the relevant role players. Thus far the location of the meeting has not been disclosed and the media will not be allowed to attend.

Lesufi has already indicated he has three schools in the area lined up to where he will redeploy teachers and pupils.
