GALLERY and VIDEO: Copperstone Promotions celebrates women

HONEYDEW – Glenburn Lodge hosts Copperstone Productions 9th Annual Women’s Day event.

It has been 59 years since the march of 20 000 women on the Union Buildings in Pretoria on 9 August 1956. South Africa has moved from celebrating National Women’s Day on 9 August annually to commemorating August as Women’s Month. Jacques Momberg, director of Copperstone Promotions and founder of the SA Bachelor and Bachelorette competition, held the 9th Annual Women’s Day event at Glenburn Lodge in Muldersdrift.

The finalists – Carliza Baard (from Somerset West), Ilke Fortuin (from Western Cape), Lee Nagel (from Roodepoort), Samantha Eaton (from Pretoria), Jordan Reece Chandler (from Cape Town), Shaun Stander (from Durban) and Wayne Stafford (from Linden) – were in attendance. Unfortunately Port Elizabeth finalist Ivan Green was unable to attend.

It was a lavish affair themed ‘glamorous red’. Actress Marisa Drummond hosted the event and reminded the audience of the history of Women’s Month and its importance.

Entertainment was provided by an all-male line-up: singers Lee Scott, Jacques TerreBlanche and Christiaan Baartman Kritzenger. Pulse Dancers also performed, and were very well received.

Guests included TV show Villa Rosa actresses Maryna Malan, Elsje Joubert, Yutamé Venter and actress Cindy Swanepoel of Getroud met Rugby. Also present were current Mr and Mrs South Africa, Sarah-Kate Scott and Armand du Plessis. Current SA Bachelor Guy Saben and current runner-up Johan Anker were also present.

Each finalist was required to procure sponsored products for an auction held in the afternoon, which went very well.

SA Bachelor and Bachelorette creator Jacques Momberg was happy with the event. Momberg said, “I think everything went well. The feedback from the event was amazing and all the women seemed to enjoy themselves. This was our first year we had an all-male line-up and I think it went very well.” Momberg is already thinking of the event for next year, Copperstone’s tenth and said, “We will still give people what they want but we will put on a bigger production.”
