JMPD chase leads to three arrested

They were spotted by police before taking anything from the vehicle.

“It is the first time we hear of smash and grab attackers using a getaway car, they are becoming very organized,” said JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar after the recent smash and grab incident that occurred on N1 Highway last night.

The three suspects were handed over to Florida Police after two of them allegedly smashed a vehicle’s window on the 14th Avenue on-ramp.

The suspects ran to the getaway vehicle and sped off.

JMPD officers in the area chased the vehicle along the highway and cut it off at the Malibongwe on-ramp, about 10km away.

“We don’t know how many people they have attacked before the arrest so we are sending a message to all those that have had their vehicles smashed into in the area to report to Florida Police Station,” said Minnaar.
