Rumours provides a platform for aspiring musos

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Local lounge invites bands and musicians to play live.

For anyone who’s ever wanted to be in a band or know the feeling of performing live, Rumours Lounge offers that opportunity. Simon “the Squire” Foulds said of the Sunday ‘jam sessions’, “The rock and acoustic Sundays are there to create opportunities for aspiring musicians or anyone who just wants to play. To guys that are sitting at home playing, why not come through here and jam for a 30 minute set?” Anything goes in terms of what can be played. Covers, originals and instrumentals are all welcome.

On the topic of holding the sessions on Sunday afternoons, which is traditionally ‘family time’, Foulds insisted, “We’re trying to create family days. We want parents to bring their children and expose them to live music. A lot of the time guys can’t support their friends in bands because they’re married with children. These sessions provide a middle ground. Everything’s here for them. We have the lighting and the sound technician. Musos just need to bring their instruments.”

The venue provides the separate areas for the musicians, with bands playing inside and acoustic artists playing outside. On 2 August a number of artists played with support from friends and family: namely Skulls and Wood, Above Atlas, Kat and the Jacks, Court Gibson, The Jack Rolling Dandy’s, Riot Control, The Burning Society and Couch Ninjas.
