GALLERY: Pop-Up Market comes to Featherbrooke Estate

RUIMSIG – The Pop-Up Market provides convenience for vendors to showcase their wares.

The Pop-Up market visited Featherbrooke Estate on 2 August, to the thrill of its residents who quickly became shoppers in their living environment. What Kerry Corden offers with The Pop-Up Market is a travelling market that attends country clubs, residential estates, public venues and parks. Corden explained, “We have a database of vendors and when we have a market we’ll send out a notification. If they are interested, they’ll tell us and they’ll have space. We provide all the tables and chairs and everything that’s needed. So it’s very convenient for the venue and the vendors.” She added that there is an advantage of bringing stores to residents in their living spaces.

The estate’s public relations director, Shona Jönsson, said the market was popular with the residents. Jönsson merely has to market the event to the community and Corden takes care of everything else. Residential estates offer another benefit. “We didn’t have to bring in food stalls since the clubhouse has a restaurant. They [Dulce’s Café] has been fantastic. We simply asked them to provide market food – hamburgers, boerewors rolls – and they’ve been really accommodating.”
