Maragon Hockey team progressed to the semi-finals

RUIMSIG – Maragon U14 team were undefeated in their first three games of the tournament.

The U14 boys’ team from Maragon Private School in Ruimsig won the D2/D12 Hockey regional league play-off game on 24 July. The team beat Krugersdorp High School (KHS) 1 – 0 in a nail-biting game at Noordheuwel.

The team had proceeded to the Noordvaal tournament from 30 July to 1 August. They are competing against the league winners from other regions.

The U14 had been undefeated in their first three games of the tournament, beating Potch Gymnasium 3 – 2, Driehoek 3 – 0 and Waterkloof 4 – 3. They will be playing in the semi-final against Menlopark on 31 July evening and if they win, they play the finals on the 1 August or third position play-offs if they lose.

“Maragon is very proud of these boys and we realize that these results are only achieved with hard work and dedication,” said the school’s marketing manager Belinda Espag.

The Noordvaal tournament is played between the winners of the different regional hockey leagues. League winners from Southern Gauteng, Vaal Triangle, Pretoria, Limpopo, Mpumulanga and North West compete in the Noordvaal tournament, which is hosted at Noordheuwel this year.

Maragon’s U14 team won the D12 league while Noordheuwel are the winners of the D2 league and represents the West Rand region at this tournament.
