Following a Record survey where it was found 13% of residents couldn’t identify their ward councillor and 38% of residents didn’t have contact details for them the following contact information has been made available.
As defined by the Association for Democratic Alliance Councillors (ADAC) in 2012, “Councillors are representatives of their constituents and their immediate needs”.
In a News 24 article in the same year, it was argued councillors are the elected representatives of the community and are mandated as representatives to make decisions with regards to those constituencies. They facilitate community input, are the communication link between council and community and help monitor performance of the municipality, to ascertain whether services are rendered in an efficient and fair manner.
