Special message from Mmusi Maimane to Maragon

The episode will be broadcast on 10 August on Channel 144.

KykNET recently visited Maragon Private School to record their insert for its programme KykNET Skole Top 10.

What made the day more special was the fact that the DA’s National Leader Mmusi Maimane’s Office sent a message since he regrettably could not attend. Maimane was a Zulu Teacher at the school before pursuing a career in politics.

In the message his office said on behalf of the leader that “Mr Maimane has fond memories of his time at Maragon, and is delighted that the school has been selected to feature on KykNET’s Skole Top 10.

“For decades, millions of children in South Africa have been failed by the state through inferior education. It is now widely accepted that the standard of South Africa’s education is languishing amongst the very worst in the world.

“However, Maragon stands tall as a beacon of leadership, sports, cultural and cutting edge educational philosophies.

“The DA leader believes that there is no reason for any of our schools – regardless of the area and socio-economic condition – to be sub-standard. And Maragon is a great example of a school that creates the opportunities for learners to excel and reach their dreams. Congratulations.”
