Baby’s life hangs in the balance

The Record will keep you informed as the story unfolds.

One of the quadruplets’, born prematurely to wheelchair-bound Chantel and Rob Emery on 28 June, life is allegedly hanging in the balance.

According to unconfirmed reports Emery’s medical aid (known to the Record) refuses to continue paying to keep the baby on life support due to the fact that he weighs less than one kilogram. The fine print of the medical aid company’s policy states a new born has to weigh more than one kilogram to validate maximum coverage.

Flora Life Clinic has declined to comment based on a confidentiality agreement with the father.

Rob Emery has indicated he is willing to talk to the Record on Monday but thus far was unavailable.
