Casual Day ambassadors spread Mandela Day cheer

WEST RAND — Casual Day raises awareness for people living with disabilities on the West Rand.

Casual Day ambassadors spent their 67 minutes for Mandela Day at the West Rand Association for the Physically Disabled (WRAPD) at one of the association’s community projects which provides day-care services to mentally and physically challenged children.

The ambassadors, including rapper Tujay Harmonix, and Miss Deaf SA Lefa Manamela delivered shirts and nappies to the day care. The group interacted with the children and teachers, spreading happiness during the day.

Media co-ordinator for Casual Day Andrea Vinassa said the ambassadors were there to inspire the community to spring into acting for the campaign run by WRAPD to raise funds for people with disabilities.

“Casual Day is SA’s most successful fundraising project for people with disabilities and last year we raised R28 million. The organisation changes lives one R10 sticker at a time and our ambassadors aim to give society a deeper understanding of the world of disability.”

Vinassa added that the objective of Mandela Day was to inspire people to take action and help change the world for the better. Casual Day is on 4 September 2015.
