GALLERY: Scissor Queen is a cut above

HONEYDEW RIDGE - Local pensioners get pampered.

In spite of icy wind and chilly conditions, the Scissor Queen Hairdressing Salon’s pensioner’s day can only be described as a success. Owner Amanda Buys was not expecting a large crowd and the morning started with three women and more arrived as the day progressed. They received free pampering and hair-related gifts.

Nick Savvides and his daughter, Natasha, of the The Ridge Spar came to meet the women. Since he had kindly donated the eats for the day, he wanted to make sure everyone was happy with the platters. As he has only taken over the Spar in the last three months, he also has a vested interest in reaching out to the local community.

Two Mrs SA finalists, Bianca Parsons and Thando Mbele-Sibotshiwe, for whom Scissor Queen is a competition sponsor, were on hand to wash hair, make tea and coffee and assist in any other way needed. Also present was Max Coetzee sales consultant of Schwarzkopf Professional, who also did a blow wave for a lucky pensioner and gave gifts to the women.

Pensioner, Celia Visser, who had only been in Johannesburg for 10 days, having moved up from Durban said the day had touched her heart. “I didn’t think I was going to like Johannesburg but I had such a wonderful day and Amanda (Buys) has a new customer.”
