Seven suspects nabbed by provincial police

Could be linked to other armed robberies.

Seven armed suspects have been nabbed by provincial police in the early hours of this morning following an intelligence driven operation.

The suspects are believed to have robbed three Chinese nationals on the M2 highway in May. They forced the man, who was travelling with his sister and wife, off the road where-after one suspect held them at gunpoint while his accomplices took their valuables. Some of the stolen goods include three iPhones and R3000 in cash.

During the arrests one unlicensed firearm was seized.

At this stage it is still unclear but it is believed the suspects could be linked to other armed robberies in Gauteng, said provincial spokesperson Luitenant Colonel Katlego Mogale.

The suspects have been detained at Roodepoort Police Station.
