Haven gets treated for Madiba Day

The haven’s Ottilla Malan said she was happy with how blessed the children were as they’ve had so many visitors who came to help the children.

The children of St Laurence’s Children’s Haven were spoiled rotten this weekend as senior citizens from the Douglas Retirement home and Samsung Clearwater employees paid a visit.

As part of the Mandela Day celebrations, the grannies and grandpas brought blankets and food items for the home and spent time with the children. The employees of Samsung brought sandwiches for the children and indicated they want to make the initiative a monthly event.

“We want to get more involved in the community and not just a once off because it’s Mandela Day,” said Samsung’s Bradley Nagoor.

“Every time there’s a need, God blesses us and we in turn bless others. He wants what’s best for the children. When we receive in abundance, we try to pass it on to others who are needy because there is a great need out there,” she said.
