GALLERY: Variety is the spice of life

WELTEVREDEN – Simple ways to get your family into the habit of healthy living.

The director of Barnswallows Baby Shelter, René Testa hosted a Just Health presentation on 18 July in Weltevreden Park.

The presentation provided healthy alternatives, particularly for parents with special needs children. René Testa said eating healthy is a long-term investment for your body.

“You need to start with what is in your cupboard. It does not help if we feed the children here organic and healthy foods and then the parents give the children sodas and chips,” she added.

On finding better alternatives, Testa suggested free range eggs and organic foods. She also emphasised on using raw butter instead of margarine.

Switching to a healthier lifestyle should be done gradually and Testa said it started with small changes.

“It is important to nourish your body, but essentially, the question is what are you nourishing your body with?”
