Who represents you as resident?

It only takes five minutes.

Given unresolved municipal issues regularly showing up in media reports the question arises, do you know who represents you as a resident?

Who will stand as mediator between a frustrated resident and the City of Johannesburg concerning exorbitant billing, for example, or electricity theft in Helderkruin?

The answer is supposed to be the assigned ward councillors for each area and the hypothesis, based on many phone calls received at the Record office, is most residents are not certain when and how they can contact these representatives. Experience has shown a large part of the community are not even certain of the councillors’ duties.

Recently another media group conducted a mini survey in the larger Johannesburg area posing questions pertaining to when and how councillors are contacted and whether they’re known and active in their wards.

The Record with the below survey aims to ascertain whether you, Roodepoort, know who to call and when to call them. Completing it should take less than 5 minutes and would help the newsroom to understand your position as resident.

Partaking in the survey would also help establish how mindful local councillors are of their positions and would help the community keep their representatives accountable.

Please note: The specific details of your completed questionnaire will not be shared with any third party. Answers are for information purposes only and results of the survey will be used as a whole, not as individual submissions.
