Knit a teddy friend with Solidarity Helping Hand

Solidarity Helping Hand wants to make sure that every child has a teddy bear to cuddle. With that in mind, they launched a new project called Knit-a-Teddy-Friend.

As part of the project, accomplished knitters will knit teddy bears for impoverished children.

The project is already well underway and participants are knitting, crocheting and sewing to make sure no needy children are left empty-handed this Christmas.

Helping Hand’s Regional Organiser Adele Kruger said after the hugely successful Knit-a-Square project, she realised they have wonderful knitting and sewing skills in their midst and those willing to help have opened their hearts to the suffering of children and the elderly.

“The photos we have received show just how grateful the elderly people and children were to be wrapped in cosy Knit-a-Square blankets. It is gratitude like this that inspires us to show every impoverished little one this Christmas that we care,” she said.

Everyone is invited to join the project which will attempt to have 1 000 bears and bring some hope for the vulnerable ones among us.

A competition for the prettiest bears will be conducted and cash prizes will be available.
