Kitty kindness

JOBURG – Hello Kitty #OneKindThing Campaign encourages people to carry out random acts of kindness.

The launch of the Hello Kitty #OneKindThing Campaign took place on 11 July, and will run for the next three months.

This initiative seeks to make people aware of just how powerful a seemingly small act of kindness can be, and to remind people that kindness costs nothing, but that its value can be immeasurable.

And Hello Kitty herself, is leading the way on this journey of benevolence.

The #OneKindThing Campaign is a multi-faceted one, but it will largely be driven through the Hello Kitty loves South Africa Facebook page and the HelloKittySouthAfrica Instagram page.

“Social media is a great mechanism to showcase just how infectious kindness can be,” said Annie Fyfe-Hitchings, the publicist for the #OneKindThing Campaign.

At the launch of the campaign, Hello Kitty acknowledged Nerine ‘Girl with Cake’ Gardiner, a South African with a simple message of encouraging people to share the love, no matter how they choose to do it.

“Nerine Gardiner has been baking elaborate cakes that she hand-delivers to people less fortunate than herself, as she believes that a special cake brings a unique happiness that everyone deserves to feel,” said Fyfe-Hitchings.

“To acknowledge this kindness, and to ensure that Nerine can continue to do her beautiful work, Hello Kitty hand-delivered a trailer full of baking supplies and goodies, to ensure that her ability to share the love continues well into the future.”

This was just the first of many acts of kindness that will be carried out by Hello Kitty during the coming weeks and months.

Hello Kitty hopes to inspire South Africans to join her on carrying out random acts of kindness, for family, friends, and strangers.
