Lion Park red tapes windows shut

NOOITGEDACHT – Lion Park will no longer allow lion cub interaction at their new premises in 2016.

Following recent lion attacks at the Lion Park, a red tape safety measure has been introduced.

This idea was conceived after a lion attacked an American female tourist on 1 June.

The red tape is placed on the windows of vehicles when motorists drive into enclosures.

“It helps to prevent people from opening their windows. Also, it jams the windows, especially in the case of automatic windows, from being opened,” explained Lion Park assistant manager Scott Simpson.

In a statement released by the Lion Park on 14 July, the park will be relocating to their new premises in Magaliesburg at the beginning of 2016.

At the new location, the park will no longer be offering lion cub petting, interaction or lion breeding.

According to Scott, this step was taken as a direct result of accusations of canned lion hunting and unfair treatment of animals by certain animal activist groups.

He further added, “The decision has been reached to cease the cub interaction and the breeding of lions at the new park.”

Currently, the park is still offering the interaction. [Insert video]

All enclosures with the exception of enclosure 2, are able to be self-toured.
