Road collision leaves 12 injured

STRUBEN'S VALLEY – Two collisions occurred on Hendrik Potgieter Road over the weekend, during which 12 people were injured and a woman got stuck under a car in Ruimsig.

A collision between a taxi and bakkie left 12 people injured at the Hendrik Potgieter and Christiaan de Wet roads intersection, on 4 July.

When ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene they found patients, all from the taxi, sitting on the side of the road.

The patients were assessed and found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries.

They were treated and transported to Helen Joseph Hospital for further medical care.

The exact cause of the collision is unknown.

Another road accident occurred at the Van Staden and Hendrik Potgieter roads intersection in Ruimsig.

A woman stuck under a car, was freed and a man trapped inside the vehicle, was extricated after a car and motorbike had collided.

ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found a man trapped inside the vehicle and a woman, who was riding on the bike, stuck under the car.

The car was lifted and the woman was freed.

The patients, as well as the other man who was riding the bike, were assessed.

They sustained moderate injuries.

They were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.

The exact cause of the collision is unknown, however, authorities were on scene for further investigations.

Honeydew Police were contacted but they are yet to comment on the accident.
