The Roodekruin Animal Clinic issued a warning to all dog owners to be vigilant against dog poisoning.

The Roodekruin Animal Clinic issued a warning to all dog owners to be vigilant against dog poisoning.

This comes after the clinic saw a rapid increase of dog poisonings in some Roodepoort areas.

Cases of dog poisoning have been confirmed in Wilropark, Roodekrans and Witpoortjie.

Dog owners are asked to ensure they walk through their property and get rid of any strange objects found in the yard and on the side walk.

According to the clinic, the most common poison being used is Aldicarb or Temik, also known as Two Step.

Symptoms of poisoning are numerous such as profuse twitching of the skin, disorientation, vomiting, confusion and excessive salivation.
