VIDEO: SA Bachelor 2015 finalist pulls out all the stops

FAIRLAND – Wayne Stafford experiences the competition from the other side.

Wayne Stafford (38), one of the four Bachelor finalists for 2015, owns his own event management company. For years the Fairland resident has been behind the scenes ‘making it all happen’.

He explained, “I wanted to align myself with the right competition that is going to allow me simply to be – not where I have to be different or act different.” Stafford likes the SA Bachelor and Bachelorette competition because it is charity driven and “gets involved in a lot of projects. It was exciting to find a competition I could enter that had the community aspect as well,” he added.

He has gone full steam ahead, planning four events to take place between being announced as a finalist on 27 June and the final announcement of the winners on 7 November. The charities he is focusing on are Amadea Home of Safety, Louis Botha Children’s Home and Food Bank South Africa.

The fundraising events are as follows:

  • 28 July: Soep-en-Vetkoekaand at Eagle Canyon Country Club, Honeydew. Tickets are R100 for anyone to come along and enjoy soup and vetkoek. Proceeds go to Amadea Home of Safety, but each person will also be required to bring a tin of food. All tins will be donated to Food Bank South Africa. To book, contact Stafford directly.
  • 1 September: Dinner with the Stars at RoomFive in Rivonia. The evening will be hosted by Edith Venter and for R450 per person, guests will receive a three-course meal, a goodie-bag to the value of R700 and a selection of celebrity entertainment. There will also be a raffle with some fantastic prizes. Each guest will be required to bring a tin of food that will be donated to Food Bank South Africa. The proceeds from the evening will go to the Louis Botha Children’s home. However, representatives from each charity will be present and they will have card machine facilities. To book, please contact Chantelle.
  • At the end of September (the date and details to be confirmed): the event will be Celebrity Cupcakes for Amadea Home of Safety.
  • 30 October: a corporate golf day will be held at Eagle Canyon Golf Estate.

To donate R10, SMS Amadea or Louis Botha or Food Bank to 48727.

To vote for Wayne to win, SMS WAYNE STAFFORD to 35959. These SMSs will be charged at R3 each.
