Speed demon comes to nasty halt

Passenger hospitalised.

A 32-year-old motorcyclist was arrested yesterday morning for failing to stop for Metro officers who were trying to flag him down.

The man from Weltevreden Park and his passenger was doing a 169km/h in a 120km/h zone near the 14th Avenue offramp on the N1 when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into  two Metro Police vehicles that were chasing him.

His female passenger was injured and taken to Wilgeheuwel Hospital while the suspect was detained at Roodepoort Police Station on a charge of negligent and reckless driving, said spokesperson Wayne Minnaar.
