Refocusing through wellness workshop

Using the Demartini Method one resident helped others refocus themselves in the workplace and at home.

To be goal-driven and determined is all good and well until one realises that these plans don’t align with one’s highest values and current situation.

At least, that’s what the Record and other attendees realised while attending a wellness workshop presented by local occupational therapist Hanneke Jonas at Eagle’s View Guest House and Conference Centre on Wednesday night 24 June. Jonas, who describes her life purpose as to empower those around her, organised the workshop when she identified a goal and focus problem amongst Roodepoort and Krugersdorp business folk.

The evening was well attended and attendees were tasked with completing a workbook aimed at better defining their highest values, current situation, areas of life that they focus on, goals and ultimately, current life purpose. The workbook and Jonas’ current outlook on occupational therapy is largely based on the Demartini Method, often described as a cutting-edge personal transformation methodology which was developed by Dr John Demartini, well-known author and founder of the Demartini Institute.

Jonas told her audience she herself broke down mentally a couple of years ago, and it was this breakdown that meant a breakthrough for her occupational therapy career.

“Goals change, highest values shift, situations develop and you’ll find yourself focusing on different areas of your life at different ages.

“This also meas that your life purpose as you perceive it will develop and change as you progress.

“Being aware of these concepts should enable you to empower yourself in all areas of life, to have clearly-defined goals and to achieve success,” Jonas said.
