Toasting to sweet endings and new beginnings

Florida Toastmasters started in 1974 and is celebrating its 41st birthday this year.

With the theme Sweet Endings and New Beginnings, the Florida Toastmasters Club bid the outgoing committee members farewell before they inaugurated the new president and committee members.

The words of vice president and public relations officer Michael Glencross rang true when he said the only thing that is constant is change. “If nothing changes, there cannot be growth. Stability is an illusion. circumstances always change and the trick is to embrace the change,” referring to the changes the club is facing.

During club member Barry Nelson’s talk, he inspired the audience with the theme ‘Wake up the future is here’. He said a person’s potential is limited by the amount of excuses you have and the future starts with tomorrow. “Put your mouth where your dreams are. Lige begins at the edge of your comfort zone,” he said.

The outgoing president Aubrey Govere spoke of some of the highlights during his reign and welcomed the incoming president Dawn Hemming wishing her well during her tenure.

The District Public Relations Officer JP Gernaat was also present and handed each incoming new committee member a short inspirational message.
