Update: ‘Ontdekkers police’ suspect out on bail

Driver had previous drug offence.

The driver, Henry Prinsloo, of the BMW that crashed into a police vehicle leading to two policemen’s death on 16 June, has been released on R5000 bail, according to an official source.

Prinsloo, 34, from Silverfields has an outstanding conviction of possession of drugs which was scrapped of the court roll.

Leonard Dakile, the prosecuter, initially asked for R20 000 bail but Magistrate Andrea Davis set it at R5000 after Prinsloo’s lawyer Calvin Richards argued that Prinsloo was unemployed and his mother was a single parent.

Prinsloo’s trial will commence on 7 August.
