Firefighters battled with church flames

Caleb has been using the building for three years.

Firefighters battled the flames which engulfed the Rock Ministries church in the early hours of the morning throughout the day.

Senior pastor of the church Caleb Marathane was on the scene watching the firemen putting out the flames.

He claims that an arsonist was the cause of the fire as many people wanted the land the church is built on.

“This land was entrusted to me by the government to use, it does not belong to me. There have been pastors who have come to the church claiming God gave them visions about using the church and planting his seeds here. They could not understand how I could be assigned to it,” he said.

Chairs and musical instruments have been stolen from the church and Caleb said he was not worried about the church burning down but the children and families the church assisted.

“We were using this church to feed children and residents from Princess Informal Settlement. Now they will suffer because of someone’s greed and envy. I am blessed, why must I cry,” he said.
